Ok, so here's my second portfolio post - a hotel renovation/enlargement following fire damage. The client wanted to raise the roof instead of simply rebuilding the hotel as before, in order to gain extra accomodation for customers (the former roof height only allowed for a restricted loft space). The design also added a pair of dormer windows - these had to match the architectural style of the existing building (hence the dodgy blue/white combo in the facia).
The key factor of this project was speed - as the structure was damaged by the fire, the builders were already on site to repair it - so i had to turn around the drawings in less than 48hours and apply for planning retrospectively, which is never ideal.
